For the release of Thodoris Iliopoulos
Thodoris Iliopoulos was arrested on the 18th of December 2008 in Academia Street in Athens after a blind hit of the police special-forces, according to witnesses and journalists who were on the spot.
He has been held in custody since the 22nd of December in Korydallos remand prisons being charged for 3 crimes and 2 misdemeanors. The charges are based exclusively on the testimonies of two special-forces policemen. Thodoris has been denying all charges from the very beginning and he has been protesting for his innocence by writing letters and giving interviews to the media. All his requests for being released are rejected so far. On the 8th of July the Magistrates' Council ordered the continuation of his custody for 6 months by adding arbitrarily more incriminating evidence in the original indictment, while all the other people who have been in custody, charged with similar or other accusations for the December events, have been released. After all legal procedures for his release have been rejected he started a hunger strike in prison on Friday, the 10th of July.
"I am going on a hunger strike. This is the only means I was left with as a prisoner in order to protest for the truth and denounce the enormous injustice, the hate and the empathy of the mechanisms of the 'criminal law', the arbitrariness and the violence of a blind 'justice' and of its servants who are even more 'blind'".
Thodoris Iliopoulos
For this reason, we, the people who sign this text, demand the direct release of Thodoris Iliopoulos so that there will be an end to this outrageous injustice against him.
Thodoris Iliopoulos must be released now!

Within the discussion on male role models in art, our emphasis in the third edition of an exhibition by The John Institute will be theatrical and social roles of dandyism. Does the character of the Dandy still exist today? Swiss art historian Beat Wyss has doubted so for a while. In a society, in which consumption seems to be the only convention, the Dandy, as we know him from the Fin de Siecle period, has lost his grounds: the coquettish game with High Society’s strict codes and the appropriation of those without financial means. While the Dandy, in novels as Joris-Karl Huysmans "A rebours" or Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly "On Dandyism" advanced to become a known role model of an elite male stile mainly in literature of that age, a contemporary interpretation could be found in art. The artist of today often performs an acrobatic walk on the tight rope between under-payed "creative work" and the noble chic of a global art boom. In such a perspective, the figure of the Dandy is a cultural habitus repeatedly created, that re-appears in a new disguise.
After a century of pop-history and emancipation, the relation of the once bourgeois Dandy to the figure of the Diva cannot be disregarded. Is the role of the Diva possibly a successful, extroverted and not least femininely connoted version of the Dandy or vice-versa, or are the sex-specific characteristics constitutive for this type?
The pavilion- a historic venue of the 19. century, is thought to be the ideal place for a interlinking of the Dandy -debate with the confrontation of contemporary artists on
today's role models of a culturally defined figure of style.

which is a beautiful island in the southern archipelago
from where you can contemplate the Baltic Sea
and swim if you are brave enough (everybody followed Ana Paula)
where you should keep your socks in your troussers to avoid tick bites
where you can eat raspberries
and wild strawberries
and run around red sticks
and follow black slugs
the view outside the house
and a painting inside the house
