The Unfair Fair opens tonight in Rome

The Unfair Fair, curated by Cecilia Canziani and Vincent Honoré, opens tonight in Rome. I participate with the work Wonder Land (see photo - 80 color slides).

THE UNFAIR FAIR

Dates: 29 February – 3 March 2008
Preview: Friday 29 February , 18:00 to 24:00
Venue: Loto Arte, Via Civinini, 41 - 00197 Rome
Opening hours:
Friday 29 February 18:00 to 24:00
Saturday 1 February 9:30-14:00 and 15:00 to 24:00
Saturday 2 March 9:30–14:00 and 15:00 to 19:30
Monday 3 March 9:30–14:00 and 15:00 to 19:30

THE UNFAIR FAIR adopts an economy of form and means, where disintegration, experimentation and the poetics of play are emphasised over commodified products and the market economy.

THE UNFAIR FAIR is a space for distanciation, for experiments, for collaborations. The aim of the event is to show the process of artistic productions and transitional art works that index broader practices by each of the invited artists. THE UNFAIR FAIR will find its final shape during the course of its development, allowing flexibility and contradictions, adapting itself to the projects proposed by the artists and the participants.

THE UNFAIR FAIR brings together over 50 international artists. A special exhibition set and display will be created by German artist Wolfgang Berkowski.

Country Vs Pop - I Will Always Love You

"Dolly Parton wrote the song in 1973 and it was released a year later, having been produced by Bob Ferguson. She has told numerous interviewers over the years that she wrote it for her one-time partner and mentor Porter Wagoner, with whom she was having a business splitting at the time."[...] "Parton re-recorded the song in 1982 to include it on the soundtrack to the film The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Her 1982 version also reached number one on the US Country Chart, marking the first time the same song reached number one on the country charts twice by the same artist." [...]
"In 1992 (see 1992 in music), singer Whitney Houston covered the song for the soundtrack to The Bodyguard, her film debut" [...] "Houston's single was a massive worldwide success, selling over 10 million copies and proving a much bigger success than the original version almost 20 years earlier. " [...] "In a joke frequently used by Mad Magazine, whenever Whitney Houston is mentioned, they casually mention the fact that people use this song for weddings, when the song is about people breaking up for good. In 2002 the Iraqi government held a referendum asking whether Saddam Hussein should remain as president. Saddam Hussein's campaign advertising before the election featured the song 'I Will Always Love You." (wiki)

Elections in Cyprus - Second round

The attempt to enter the Guinness Book of Records for the largest sirtaki dance in Ayia Napa, with "ambiguous" stylistic details and the imposed movements spoke out loud by the "choreographer".

El Prado

Yesterday I went to the Prado with my friend Maria. We saw some amazing paintings. The people in them are all dead now. It was not possible to take pictures and for this I made a long list. I also found this room from which they moved some masterpieces to another room and I took photos of the marks of time. When they saw me they told me to stop.

Arco - Solo Projects

In Madrid

I arrived in Madrid on the 10th and I went for a walk with Sylvia. We met near the park Winnie the Pooh!
I ask him for a photo he said "OK", we posed together, then he asked for money, I gave him some and we left.
I think he was not very happy. Me neither, but we look happy together on the picture.

Karolina and Julien

About ten years ago I have visited my friend Karolina and her boyfriend Julien. She was studying ballet at the conservatoire of Montpellier and I was getting lonely in Lyon. Now Karolina is dancing all around Europe and I guess Julien too...

Cousin Andrea

A few years later I started photographing cousin Andrea. He was a champion of something (can't remember anymore) and proud to pose with his medals!

Andry

I have bought a scanner and thought of sharing some photos from the past. Today is my sister's birthday and here is a good point to start... I got a camera when I was about 10 and Andry was the willing model, I followed her at the ballet class (not so succesfull), and directed her to pose like an innocent odalisque in the boat, on the sofa, and on the kitchen bar (in a spectacular composition with ballet shoes flying on the top of her head)... Happy birthday sister.
