"Oh, Jerry, don't let's ask for the moon. We have the stars." Now, Voyager, 1942
Neither the stars nor the moon, you are such a coward my superhero!

(The sea will bring birds / and the wind will bring golden stars / that will caress your hair / and kiss your hand... / Paper moon, fake beach / If you believed me a bit, everything would be real / Without your love / time goes by quickly / Without your love / the world is smaller...)

The 2007 DESTE Prize is Loukia Alavanou… The ceremony was held yesterday at DESTE Foundation in Athens. They gave me as well my statuette due from 2005… It is faux-shinny and kind of kinky useful real size cute hand:
You can use it as a decoration next to your hotel abas jour
Or as a “bag”
As a weapon
Or as a sex toy
...as you can see it is very handy, even though insanely heavy. My main concern for now is that I will need to pay an overweight fine at the airport to get it out of the country...

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night
Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way
So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks
Istanbul (Istanbul)
Istanbul (Istanbul)
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way
Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks
So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks

My friend Ahmet got married to his love Pivli and they gave yesterday a super Kurdish-Finish party at Platform. We danced to Kurdish traditional music and then to “Romeo, Romeo, Romeo”. Everybody had fun. I wrote my name under the bride’s shoe and touched the wedding bouquet… Inshallah…

I have taken this picture of Hüseyin last year, same period, before leaving Istanbul and after spending about six months there. Hüseyin has shorter hair now, a new job (so not a journalist any more) and he moved into a new house. He is negotiating his future and thinking of moving to Austria for a while. He is still calm and shy. He checked if I remember the Turkish alphabet and numbers that he teaches me: Bir Ayran, Ikki Kitap, üch defter…

There is a spectacular Turkish adaptation of the Chinese fortune cookies, which I came across yesterday… You pay a rabbit to choose a piece of paper (which exist translated in English as well) and which gives you (as always) the most accurate résumé of your projections…
“36. You love so much someone and you are going to crazy when you don’t see him. You are suddenly wake up at midnight and you waste your sleeps. but don’t worry he-she love you too. you will be happy soon…”
