El Prado

Yesterday I went to the Prado with my friend Maria. We saw some amazing paintings. The people in them are all dead now. It was not possible to take pictures and for this I made a long list. I also found this room from which they moved some masterpieces to another room and I took photos of the marks of time. When they saw me they told me to stop.

Arco - Solo Projects

In Madrid

I arrived in Madrid on the 10th and I went for a walk with Sylvia. We met near the park Winnie the Pooh!
I ask him for a photo he said "OK", we posed together, then he asked for money, I gave him some and we left.
I think he was not very happy. Me neither, but we look happy together on the picture.

Judy Garland: A Biography, Rio cinema, Junuary 25th

I have bought a scanner and thought of sharing some photos from the past. Today is my sister's birthday and here is a good point to start... I got a camera when I was about 10 and Andry was the willing model, I followed her at the ballet class (not so succesfull), and directed her to pose like an innocent odalisque in the boat, on the sofa, and on the kitchen bar (in a spectacular composition with ballet shoes flying on the top of her head)... Happy birthday sister.

From today in Athens (Three sound works by the artist Christodoulos Panayiotou in the framework of the exhibition In Present Tense)

In parallel to the installation "Guysgocrazy" three sound works will be presented in Athens the following weeks as part of the exhibition "In present tense" at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens, Greece.



Judy Garland: A biography
This sound work is the simultaneous reproduction of the first and last version of the song Somewhere over the rainbow by Judy Garland. The first version was recorded for the film The Wizard of Oz when Garland was 16 years old, while the second was recorded just before her death during a concert at the Carnegie Hall in New York. The work functions as an alternative biography of Garland’s dramatic life. In addition, this work constitutes a different reading to that which this well-known song represents.
The work will be presented on Monday 7 January 2008 between 10:00-12:00 on the radio KOSMOS 93.6

Το έργο αποτελεί την ταυτόχρονη αναπαραγωγή της πρώτης και της τελευταίας εκτέλεσης του τραγουδιού Somewhere over the rainbow από την Judy Garland. Η πρώτη εκτέλεση ηχογραφήθηκε για την ταινία Ο Μάγος του Οζ όταν η Garland ήταν 16 χρονών ενώ η δεύτερη ηχογραφήθηκε σε μια συναυλία στο Carnegie Hall της Νέας Υόρκης, λίγο πριν το θάνατο της τραγουδίστριας. Το έργο λειτουργεί ως εναλλακτική βιογραφία της δραματικής ζωής της Judy Garland. Ακόμα, το έργο αυτό αποτελεί και μια διαφορετική ανάγνωση όσων το γνωστό αυτό τραγούδι συμβολίζει.
Το έργο θα παρουσιαστεί τη Δευτέρα 7 Ιανουαρίου 2008 μεταξύ 10:00-12:00 στον ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό KOSMOS 93.6



To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause – Utopian songs with Kristian Kristensen
The work consists of the recording of a live concert with 7 songs, which originate from Hollywood musicals of the cold war period. The 7 songs treat the weather and natural catastrophes. Through the weather metaphors the songs imply a utopian tomorrow.
The songs are the following:

‘Climb every mountain’ from ‘The Sound of Music’
‘My favorite things’ from ‘The Sound of Music’

Το έργο αποτελεί την ηχογράφηση μιας ζωντανής συναυλίας 7 τραγουδιών που προέρχονται από μιούζικαλ του Χόλιγουντ της περιόδου του ψυχρού πολέμου. Τα 7 τραγούδια πραγματεύονται καιρικά φαινόμενα και φυσικές καταστροφές και προβάλλουν ένα ουτοπικό αύριο μέσα από τις καιρικές μεταφορές.
Τα τραγούδια είναι τα εξής:

Prologue: Quoting Absence
The sound work Prologue: Quoting Absence is the first part of a trilogy in progress, which deals with the theme of absence. The trilogy follows the structure of an academic dissertation and the first work functions as a prologue, as declared by its title. The artist invited four professors from the University of Oxford, who represent four different academic directions (Astrophysics, History, Philosophy, Art), to realize a theoretical discussion on the idea of absence. The discussion was recorded and reproduced at the empty white space of the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford in 2006. The work ultimately implies an ostensible absence as the discussion fills the empty space and makes its presence intensely felt.
The work will be presented as a sound installation on Thursday 17 January 2008 at 17:00 in the room Mini Conference 2 of Megaron Mousikis / The Athens Concert hall
Prologue: Quoting Absence

Το ηχητικό έργο Prologue: Quoting Absence αποτελεί το πρώτο μέρος μιας τριλογίας σε εξέλιξη και πραγματεύεται το θέμα της απουσίας. Η τριλογία ακολουθεί την δομή μιας ακαδημαϊκής εργασίας και το συγκεκριμένο έργο λειτουργεί σαν πρόλογος, όπως δηλώνει και ο τίτλος του. O καλλιτέχνης προσκάλεσε τέσσερις καθηγητές από το Πανεπιστήμιο της Οξφόρδης, που εκπροσωπούν τέσσερις διαφορετικές ακαδημαϊκές κατευθύνσεις (Αστροφυσική, Ιστορία, Φιλοσοφία, Τέχνη) να πραγματοποιήσουν μια θεωρητική συζήτηση για την έννοια της απουσίας. Η συζήτηση αυτή ηχογραφήθηκε και αναπαράχθηκε στον άδειο λευκό χώρο του Μουσείο Μοντέρνας Τέχνης της Οξφόρδης το 2006. Το έργο δηλώνει τελικά μια φαινομενική απουσία, καθώς η ίδια η συζήτηση «γεμίζει» τον κενό χώρο και φανερώνει μια έντονη παρουσία.
Το έργο θα παρουσιαστεί σε μορφή ηχητικής εγκατάστασης την Πέμπτη 17 Ιανουαρίου 2008 στις 17:00 στην αίθουσα Mini Conference 2 στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών.

The two sound works that will be presented on the radio are part of a series of works of the artist entitled Let it shine that treat weather conditions as a channel for political propaganda.
The work will be presented on Monday 14 January 2008 between 10:00-12:00 on the radio KOSMOS 93.6

Τα δύο ηχητικά έργα που θα παρουσιαστούν στο ραδιόφωνο αποτελούν μέρος μιας σειράς έργων του καλλιτέχνη με τίτλο Let it shine που πραγματεύονται τις καιρικές συνθήκες ως αγωγούς πολιτικής προπαγάνδας.
Το έργο θα παρουσιαστεί τη Δευτέρα 14 Ιανουαρίου 2008 μεταξύ 10:00-12:00 στον ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό KOSMOS 93.6
